Health Capacity Builidng

One of MedCorp’s strongest capacities is in delivering healthcare to crisis settings, from emergency through to rehabilitative and transitional phases. Specifically, core competencies include infectious disease control (interventions and surveillance system), primary healthcare, and maternal child healthcare initiatives. MedCorp’s support to curative and preventive activities has focused on combating the major causes of morbidity and mortality in children, namely malaria, acute respiratory infections, measles, diarrhea, and anemia. Maternal health services have also been augmented through the introduction of the safe motherhood Initiative in MedCorp supported primary healthcare sites.

MedCorp is the only NGO that has spend $650.000 dollars to build an entire MCH Hospital for the people of Somali Regional State in Ethiopia, that provides service of over 500,000 people mainly women and children in Eastern part of Ethiopia. The MCH Hospital in Jijijga provides 157 save delivery every month for the women’s in the region. The MedCorp International MCH Hospital consist on 75 beds,8 private rooms with showers, 12 examination rooms, 5 private delivery rooms, and 2 medical ward, plus lab and pharmacy. The MCH Hospital provides the following services: Pediatrics, Women Care, New Born Care, Geriatrics, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS screening and awareness, Acute and Chronic illness care, Routine gynecological exam, Well child check, Prevention of Postpartum Hemorrhage, Treatment of Complications, Adolescent Maternal Health, and Save Delivery and much more.
