Ethiopia is one of the world's poorest and most indebted countries, which makes it particularly vulnerable to natural disasters such as drought.
Because of frequent periods of drought, Ethiopia is chronically unable to feed its population and has to rely to massive foreign aid.
More than 4 million school-age children are away from schools due to social and economic challenges
Project
Provide a nourishing meal every day to more than 2,400 students at four primary schools in Somali, Afar and Oromia Region, a rural area that suffers from frequent famine conditions.
Goals
1) Provide a nutritious meal to poor students that will nourish their bodies and help their minds absorb their school lessons. 2) Encourage well-meaning parents to send their children to school by helping with a meal, especially during the dry months when food and water are scarce. 3) Enable children to remain in school rather than travel with their families in search of food during famine seasons
